May-Port CG vs Thompson – Region 2 Baseball Tournament

Mayville, ND — May-Port CG struck first, but Thompson’s big 5th inning catapulted them to a 5-2 victory, as they avenge their 2 losses from the regular season against the Patriots.

The Patriots showed why they were the higher seed through 3 innings as Kaden Hogfoss only allowed 2 base runners during that stretch. The May-Port CG plated a run in the first after the leadoff man, Bricker Johnson got hit by a pitch, stole a base, and then Sawyer McGillis drove him in with an RBI double. But in the third is when the bats got going for the Tommies. Dex Avdem lead off with a triple to right field, and was immediately brought in on an RBI single by Kaden Loiland to tie it at 1. May-Port CG had the answer though in the bottom of the inning as they scored without getting a hit thanks to a walk, a hit batter, a sac bunt, and then a pass ball to recapture the lead at 2-1. The Tommies were able to load the bases up without getting a hit as well and with two outs Kaden Loiland again struck gold for his Tommies by clearing the bases with a 3 RBI double to make it 4-2. May-Port CG only got one more runner in scoring position from that point on. The man of the hour Kaden Loiland got his 5th RBI in the 7th inning after an Eli Gemmill triple to make it 5-2. Then Jeromy Tyce came in for the save opportunity and closed it out.

Thompson moves on and will play Hillsboro/Central Valley at 11 am with a chance to move into the championship game.
