Mahnomen/Waubun vs. Northern Freeze

Mahnomen/Waubun took no time getting into the playoff groove as they nearly batted around twice in the first inning as they plated 11 runs in the first inning. The Northern Freeze made a pitching change late in that first inning to Sophie Wawrzyniak and she quieted the Thunderbird bats for the next 4 innings. The Freeze got their bats going by scoring their first run in the third inning off an RBI single from Wawrzyniak to make it 11-1. Then in the top of the 5th the Freeze were able to avoid the mercy rule by plating 3 runs after the Thunderbirds made a pitching change to make it 11-4. The Thunderbirds eventually figured out Wawrzyniak from the circle after getting 3 runs including back to back RBI doubles from Emily Zima and Kenley Syverson to make it 14-4 in the bottom of the 6th to enforce that mercy rule after all and put an end to the Northern Freeze’s season.
