Fertile Mayor Nephew To Run For City Council Seat In November
FERTILE, MN—Fertile Mayor Brian Nephew isn’t running for re-election in November. But he will be on the ballot for a city council seat. Nephew tells R&J News he decided against running for Mayor again after Todd Peterson filed to run for Mayor in November.
Nephew has been part of Fertile’s city government since 1980. He was elected to the City Council until 2002, when he was elected Mayor. He held that office until 2016. Then in 2024, he ran for Mayor again and was voted to that office. Nephew talks about what Fertile accomplished in 2025.
Nephew is one of two candidates on the ballot for Fertile City Council. The other is Jennifer Flikke. Current Council members Mary Kiefert and Eileen Todahl did not file for re-election.
