Flags Fly At Half Staff To Honor MN State Supreme Court Justice

ST. PAUL, MN—Flags are flying at half staff at Minnesota state office buildings today to honor a former State Supreme Court Justice.  Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s proclamation is in honor of former State Supreme Court Justice Esther Tomljanovich, who died July 26 at the age of 94.  Tomljanovich grew up on Minnesota’s Iron Range and was appointed 10th District Judge in 1977, making her the second woman judge in the state.  In 1990, then Governor Rudy Perpich appointed her to the State Supreme Court, becoming the third woman to serve on Minnesota’s highest court.  Tomljanovich served on the State Supreme Court for eight years before retiring in 1998.
