Red Lake Falls vs. BOLD Class A 3rd Place Game

North Mankato, MN — BOLD plates 9 runs in extra innings to capture 3rd place at the Class A State Tournament.

Red Lake Falls posed the first scoring threat in the bottom of the second inning after a walk and two bunt singles loaded up the bases with no outs. BOLD’s Kaitlyn Flann dug deep and somehow avoided any damage done as she was able to get a strikeout, a force out at home, and another strikeout and then let out a roar to fire up her team. It wasn’t until the bottom of the 4th until we got our first run of the game after the Eagles’ Grace Knutson singled and stole second, got moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt and then Ella Breiland got an RBI bunt single to make it 1-0. BOLD was able to answer right back in the top of the 5th with a run of their own. They did it without any hits as Klipping hit two batters and walked two batters which forced in a run to make it 1-1. A pitchers duel ensued for the next two and a half innings and forced the game into extras. BOLD decided to be patient and wait on their pitches in the extra frame as they walked 4 times, got hit by 3 pitches and got 4 hits, while the Eagles also had an error, which brought in 9 runs in the top of the 8th to make it 10-1. The Eagles got a small scoring threat in the bottom of the inning after a one out double from Shandi Nelson and a two out single from Ava Seegar, but they were unable to plate any runs as BOLD takes home the 3rd place trophy in their first trip to the State Tournament. Red Lake Falls with their 4th place finish is the best they have done in their 6 trips.
