The Pequot Lakes Patriots survived their home opener after Albany came back from 0-2 to force a decisive fifth set.

Pequot Lakes held on to a 25-23 win in the opening set, then took control of set 2 in a 25-17 win. Albany adjusted and won the next two sets 25-19, 25-19. In set five, Pequot Lakes lead for most of the way, but with match point for the Patriots, Albany scored three straight to set up match point 15-14. The Patriots scored four of the final five points, assisted by Huskies’ errors to claim an 18-16 clinching set win.

Brooklin Hanson had 40 set assists, spreading the wealth as Mia Trumpold had 18 kills and the Nelson Twins, Kendall & Lauren, each had 13. Addison Headley had six ace blocks along with four kills. Two of her blocks were in the final set.

The Patriots start the year 3-0, all in Granite Ridge Conference play, as Albany falls to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the GRC.
