With school back in session, drivers reminded to watch for school buses 

School is getting underway this week for a number of area schools, which means that drivers need to be driving with extra caution in the mornings and afternoons. Ada Borup West Transportation Director Shawn Roux reminds area drivers to be watching for school  buses. 

Roux also reminds drivers of the laws regarding school buses, as they recently changed. 

Roux says drivers need to be doing their part in keeping the roads safe in the mornings and afternoons, as kids may not always be paying attention, especially if they are excited to be going back to school. 

In Minnesota, passing a school bus with its stop arm extended or lights flashing, is classified as a misdemeanor. A first-time offender may face a fine of up to $500 and/or imprisonment for up to 90 days. More severe penalties apply if a driver puts a child in danger.
