Drought having effect on Midwest cow herds
When people often hear the words agriculture and drought, their minds typically go to the effect that it’s having on crops, but did you know that drought also has a major impact on cattle producers? Tim Kjos who farms near Edgeley says drought is causing many producers to sell their cattle early.
At a time where the US Cattle Herd is at an all time low, Kjos says that many processing plants are also having an impact on herds.
Kjos says local ownership of some of these processing plants may be the solution to some of these growing issues.
Kjos is a guest on the Farm and Field Show, which airs this afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 on KRJB 106.5 FM.
