Sugarbeet root Maggot is a growing concern for growers across the Red River Valley, and on Monday in St Thomas, Peter Haak with NDSU Extension gave a tour of his root maggot plot. R&J Ag Reporter Nick Revier was in attendance of the tour, and he talks with Haak about his trial.

Haak says soil types have played a big factor in root maggot prevalence across the Red River Valley.

One way that researchers track the prevalence of root maggot is by conducting fly counts, and Haak says fly counts varied across the Red River Valley, with some areas getting hit very hard.
