Moorhead Man Arrested For Assaulting Roommate

MOORHEAD, MN—What would you do if you just got out of jail?  A Moorhead man who was released from jail went on to do something that put him back behind bars. 35-year-old Ignacio Gonzalez was released from the Cass County Jail on Saturday.  Law enforcement says after returning to his Moorhead apartment, Gonzalez began drinking. His roommate says he tried to stay out of Gonzalez’s way.  Police say Gonzalez began banging on his roommate’s bedroom door.  When the door was opened, Gonzalez went in, began yelling at the roommate and then kicked a door that hit the roommate in the head and opened up a cut.  Gonzalez allegedly then pulled out a 6-inch serrated knife and said he was going to kill his roommate.  The roommate fled the apartment with Gonzalez chasing him.  The roommate was able to flag down help, and police responded.  Gonzalez was found at his apartment and was taken into custody with the help of a SWAT team.  He is being held in the Clay County Jail for second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, threats of violence and misdemeanor domestic assault.
