University of Minnesota Crookston Expands Food Access with New Eagles Essentials Pantry

The University of Minnesota Crookston recently celebrated the grand opening of its expanded Eagles Essentials Pantry in Hill Hall 109 on September 24, 2026. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the new location marks a significant step forward in addressing student need on campus.

Kati Auger, who oversees basic needs initiatives at UMN Crookston, explains the shift from the original, smaller food shelf in Evergreen Hall to the new grocery-style setup in Hill Hall.

With the larger footprint and new partnerships, the pantry has significantly broadened what it can offer the student body. Auger details the wide range of supplies, from fresh groceries to winter apparel, now available to students.

At its core, the expansion is about removing barriers so students can focus on their education without worrying about basic necessities. Auger emphasizes why providing this support is so vital for the campus community.
