The Winger Fengestad-Sollie American Legion Post #200 has presented a $6,000 donation to the Honor Flight program, helping send area military veterans on a trip to Washington, D.C., to view the national memorials built in their honor.

The donation was made possible through local fundraising efforts and community support. Unlike larger posts that feature pull-tab revenues or operate an attached bar or restaurant, Post #200 relies on grass-roots events, raffles, and community goodwill to generate funds for veteran programs.

Winger Fengestad-Sollie American Legion Post #200 Vice Commander Dean Henney explains how the post manages to raise these funds.

The $6,000 contribution supports an initiative that leaves a lasting impression on the veterans who participate. Henney notes that the feedback from past attendees has been overwhelmingly positive.

Looking ahead, Post #200 is preparing for an upcoming project at their local Memorial Park. The park features a granite monument honoring Winger natives who served and sacrificed. To support the display of individual crosses set out each Memorial Day, the Legion is launching a new sponsorship initiative.

If you would like to donate or sponsor a cross, donations can be sent to Fengestad-Sollie Post #200 at PO Box 122, Winger, MN 56592.
