8A VB QF Goodridge-Grygla at Fertile-Beltrami

The Falcons didn’t get off to their usual hot start allowing the Chargers to take early command of the opening set 7-1 at one point before they came storming back with a massive run started primarily by server Breezy Iverson who would go on to lead the match with 12 service points.

Fertile-Beltrami would ultimately take set 1 25-16 and they would start much better in each of the next 2 sets althought Goodridge-Grygla would also finish better in them as well. The next 2 sets would finish 25-18 and then finally 25-20 but despite the Chargers getting closer with each set it was still a 2nd consecutive sweep to open postseason play for Fertile-Beltrami.

The Falcons biggest strength is their depth and versatility in the number of players who can take over on any given night. While round 1 of their postseason was the Macy Petry show, this match was the Mya Erickson and Bailey Iverson showcase game. Erickson had a team high 10 kills and 5 blocked shots and Iverson did her usual thing which was to be the all-purpose stat-collecter with 7 service points, 2 Aces, 5 kills, 3 blocked shots, a multitude of assists and diving effort plays to keep plays alive and might have even helped run the concession stand at one point while we weren’t looking as she was doing everything else that the team needed.

The Falcons now get a rematch in the Section 8A semifinals with Climax Fisher who played the Falcons to a classic 5 set affair in the regular season.
