Aitkin Police Chief talks Prom Safety in monthly update

(Aitkin, MN) — Aitkin High School Prom is coming April 23rd and serves as another yearly reminder to keep an eye out for pedestrians and for parents to speak with children on making safe, smart decisions.
In a chat we had with Aitkin Police Chief Paul Ryan, he noted the speed limits in school zones must be observed with students walking to and from school more often.
With Prom being held in Aitkin this year, that presents its own set of challenges and reminders to speak on important safety matters.
From past experiences as a chaperone, little issues have come up but parents should still talk about being safe and making good decisions at Prom.
