Aitkin County Board meeting from Tuesday, May 10th

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners held their first May meeting on Tuesday with talks on road projects and an Area Transportation Partnership Presentation taking place from the Government Center Board Room.
Aitkin County Veterans Service Officer Penny Harms gave an update on the impact of VA coming to Aitkin County.
Engineer John Welle presented a resolution of support for the RSTG Grant Application for US Highway 169 from the Mississippi River bridge to TH 200 in Hill City in 2027.
The resolution was supported by the Board, a MnDOT Cooperative Agreement Construction Agreement for improvements to the intersection of Aitkin County road 54/56 and US Hwy 169/Trunk Highway 210, and approve the cost to remove vegetation in the ditch on County Road 5 from State Highway 65 to State Highway 210. Also at the meeting, Brain Anderson on behalf of MnDOT Planning Commission outlined the numerous projects that will be coming to Aitkin County over the next 5 years.
More from the Area Transportation Partnership covered upcoming projects, TZD statistics, and project funding. Human Resources Director Bobbie Danielson presented the Board on modifying the Personnel Policy in regards to the Open Scale.
The motion was approved by the Board unanimously. County Administrator Jessica Seibert laid out the early plans for the 2023 Budget Preparation.
The Board approved the recommendation from Economic Development on awarding Stelligent the bid for communications consultant.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will next meet on Tuesday, May 24th beginning at 9am from the Government Center Board Room.
