Barnesville roared to its second consecutive Section 8AA championship Friday with a 56-3 victory over Crookston at the Fargodome.
Quarterback Zach Bredman passed for three touchdowns, two to his brother Braeden, and ran for a score. Braeden Bredman also rushed for a Trojan touchdown. Andrew Pederson caught a touchdown pass and rushed for a Barnesville touchdown. The Trojan defense added a score when linebacker Jonathan Robideau returned a fumble some 40 yards for a touchdown.
Crookston’s only points came on a Luke Erickson 26 yard field goal early in the game as the Pirates’ Hunter Knutson recovered a Barnesville fumble at the Trojans 12 yard line. That 3-0 advantage would be Crookston’s only lead of the game.
Zach Bredman competed 4 of 6 passes for 110 yards and 3 touchdowns, while rushing for 21 yards on 6 carries and a touchdown. Braeden Bredman was the game’s leading rusher with 83 yards on ten carries for the Trojans.
Barnesville improves to 10-0 on the season and will take on Moose Lake-Willow River next Thursday at St. Cloud Tech in the Class AA quarterfinals.
Crookston’s season ends with a 5-6 record.
