the Ada-Borup West Cougars opened their season with a home victory over he Hawley Nuggets 80-71. The Cougars would open the game with a 8-0 run and the fast start continued to put them up 29-19 with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half. At that point the Nuggets switched up the defense and were able to force three straight Cougar turnovers as part of an 11-0 run to take a 30-29 lead with 6:30 remaining before halftime. After four lead changes the Nuggets went into the break up 41-40 and built a five-point lead after knocking down the first two baskets of the second half. The Cougars responded with back to back threes to retake the lead and did not give the lead back the rest of the game. Ada-Borup-West did the majority of their second half scoring from either the three-point line or the free-throw line to build the lead up to 10 where it hovered around for the remainder of the game.
