Cass Lake-Bena 102, Red Lake 54

Cass Lake, MN – Coming off a 78-62 loss to Fertile-Beltrami on Monday night in Fertile, the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers were ready for their Friday night clash with the Red Lake Lady Warriors in Cass Lake. The Panthers were aggressive on both sides of the ball, forcing turnovers with full court press defense leading to some fast break points to jump out to an early lead.

The Panthers wouldn’t look back as they led for the entire game thanks, in part, to sophomore guard Gabrielle Fineday, who scored 47 points in the Panthers win on Friday night. Fineday finished the game just eight points shy of tying the school record for points in a single game. The sophomore had 26 points in the first half and had six three point shots made on Friday night. Fineday is just 41 points away from passing the 1,000 point mark for her career.

Fellow Panthers sophomores Terri Wind and Shaylei Fallsdown both added in ten points and helped clean the glass all night for the Panthers. Seventh grader Rayahna Staples-Fairbanks drained a couple of threes en route to 11 points on the night for the guard off the bench.

For Red Lake, junior Liliah Pemberton led the team in scoring with 14 points, followed by seniors Hilary Jones (11 points) and Rhozaria McClain (9 points). McClain also distributed the ball very well for the Lady Warriors’ offense.
