Thompson’s girls basketball team won its eighth in a row Monday, beating Cavalier 65-30 in Thompson.

At first, the game seemed like it might be one-sided in Cavalier’s favor, as the Tornadoes jumped to a 9-0 lead.  The Tommies cut the deficit to 11-9 by the end of the first quarter, went in front in the second quarter and continued to build their advantage.

Cavalier turned the ball over 22 times, while Thompson made nine three-point baskets.  Addison Sage had four threes as part of a 16 point night, with Olivia Dick scoring 15 for the Tommies.

The third-ranked Tommies are now 9-1 on the season and 3-0 in Region 2 play going into a rescheduled game with 7th-ranked Mayport-CG Thursday night in Thompson.

Cavalier’s Jake Kihne had nine points for the Tornadoes…in the process, passing the 1000 point mark for her career.  The Tornadoes are now 7-5 overall and 4-2 in Region 2 play.  Cavalier hosts Larimore Thursday night.
