Weird and Wacky Wednesday: “Woman dismissed from Job after TikTok videos argues her back issues”

A Spanish woman on paid leave from a supermarket job due to an apparent back injury, has been notified of her permanent dismissal after her employer found TikTok videos showing her twerking and busting out other dance moves that would be difficult to do with her supposed back problems. The woman, identified as “Mrs. Piedad,” went on paid leave at the end of 2021, claiming her chronic back problems made it impossible for her to do her job. She apparently used the time away from work to build a large TikTok following, which included her former manager at the store who brought the videos to the attention of human resources. The woman received a letter from the company informing her of her dismissal, arguing that her TikTok dance moves were “incompatible with her ailments.”  The woman disagreed with the company’s decision and actually sued them for wrongful termination, which she eventually lost.
