Mataeya Mathern scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier to a 51-47 victory in the consolation round of the State Class B Girls Basketball tournament over Kenmare-Bowbells 51-47 Friday in Minot.
Mathern made a free throw with 1:35 to play to break a 47-all tie. Then after a free throw by teammate Norah Entzi, Mathern made two more with 11 seconds to play to seal the victory. Entzi added 15 points for the Rebels.
Brenna Stroklund led Kenmare-Bowbells with 22 points, plus three blocked shots. She fouled out with 1:35 to play.
Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier is now 20-5 for the season and will play Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich Saturday afternoon in the fifth place game.
Kenmare-Bowbells is now 22-4 and will meet Bowman County in Saturday afternoon’s seventh place game.
