Thompson 6, Central Cass 5 (8 innings)

Shawn O’Hearn’s bases loaded single over a drawn-in infield gave Thompson a 6-5 victory over Central Cass Friday in Thompson.

Will Welke led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk, then Drew Overby and Braden Tyce were both safe on bunt hits to load the bases, setting up O’Hearn’s game winning hit.

Central Cass took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on Sam Kobbervig’s two run inside the park home run. Thompson took the lead in the fourth with four runs, with Brody Gibson’s two run single putting the Tommies ahead 4-2.

Welke delivered a rbi single to give Thompson a 5-2 lead in the fifth.  Central Cass got a run back in the sixth inning….and then tied the game in the seventh.  With runners on first and second, Kobbervig hit a fly to right that was dropped by O’Hearn allowing the two Squirrels base runners to score.

Drew Odenbach got the win for Thompson.  The right-hander pitched a complete game, allowing three hits, with two walks and ten strikeouts.

Jaxon Parker took the loss in relief for Central Cass.
