Ada Borup West will have an early dismissal at 11:30am

Hawley School Dismissing at 12:15pm

Norman County East School will have an early dismissal at 12:30pm

Ulen Hitterdal School will dismissing at 12:30pm with busses leaving at that time

Mahnomen School dismissal will be at 12pm today

Crookston School dismissing at 11am

DGF School dismissing 11:45am at the High School and Middle School, and the Elementary dismissing at 12pm

Red Lake Falls School dismissing at 1pm

Red Lake County Central School dismissing at 1pm

Waubun-Ogema-White Earth school will be released today at 12:00pm due to weather conditions developing this afternoon causing dangerous travel conditions. All after school activities and child care are cancelled.

Lake Park Audubon has closed school through 4-5-23

Hillsboro Schools will have an e-learning day

Thompson Public School will have a Virtual Learning day Tuesday, April 4. During Virtual Learning days, students are not to use the gym during unscheduled times or the fitness center without adult supervision.

Climax Shelly School will be E-Learning. There will be no after-school activities.

White Earth Tribal and Community College Virtual Learning

Due to expected winter weather conditions, all Northland Community & Technical College campuses will be closed Tuesday, April 4, and Wednesday, April 5.

MSUM will be closed Tuesday, April 4th through April 6th, 2023 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). No classes (including online) will be held.

M-State in Detroit Lakes has closed as of 3pm.

Essentia Health – Ada clinic will be closing at Noon on Tuesday, and closed all day on Wednesday.

White Earth Clinic will be closing at 2:30 today and Naytahwaush and Pine Point Clinics will be closing at 2:00 p.m. White Earth and Naytahwaush Clinics will also be closed tomorrow 4/5/2023 due to weather

Bruggemans Supervalu in Mahnomen will be closing at 6pm today 4-4-23

Libraries & LINK sites closed in Ada, Climax, McIntosh, Halstad, Lake Park, Rothsay, Ulen, Hawley, Bagley, Mahnomen, Detroit Lakes. The Fosston, Fertile, Crookston and Moorhead Libraries will be closing at 5pm. The library system offers 24/7 access to its Digital Library which includes downloadable eBooks and audiobooks and streamable TV shows and movies, all free-of-charge to cardholders. The Digital Library can be accessed at larl.org/ebooks.  

The Dekko Community Center has closed and will remain closed until the storm is finished and the staff can safely travel. **No swim lessons on Tuesday 4/4 or Wednesday 4/5.

The Lockhart/Pleasant View Cemetery Association meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to April 18th, 7pm at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada.

National Weather Service Skywarn Spotter Training classes in Fertile April 4 and Crookston April 5 have been canceled.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), in partnership with Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), planned an in-person informational meeting regarding the status of the Vesledahl Wetland Bank Site. The meeting was originally scheduled for Thursday, April 6 at 5:00 p.m. at the Winger Community Center in Winger, Minnesota. Due to the anticipated major snowstorm and dangerous travel conditions, the meeting will be rescheduled to a later date.

The local LSS pop up for AAA bundles of 10 meals for those over age 60 that was to be held in the parking lot of Loaves & Fishes in Fosston on 4.5.2023 is postponed to 4.19.2023 at the same time, due to weather. Contact the Erskine LSS Kitchen at 218-687-2262 with questions.

City of Mahnomen is declaring a Snow Emergency April 6th through April 8th effiective at 12:01am on 4-6-23. No parking on city streets. Please remove vehicles to prevent towing.

Posted: Tuesday, April 4, 2023.  3:00PM — A Snow Emergency has been declared for the City of Twin Valley.  This emergency will remain in effect for a period of 24 hours or until the snow has been removed from the streets. This means that all parked vehicles must be removed from the street to allow for snow removal.  Any vehicle left parked on City streets will be removed at the vehicle owner’s expense. Public Works crew will be plowing the main emergency routes first.  Please be advised that wet, heavy snow accumulation may take multiple passes to clear. Please travel only as necessary and with caution. 

Ada City Council meeting (for tonight 4-4) is being postponed till April 11th at 6pm at Council Chambers

ANNOUNCEMENT 7:30am Tuesday, April 4, 2023

With the potential of 1-2 feet of wet, heavy, snow over the next few days, blizzard conditions, and significant drifting, The City of Ada, Ada Public Works Director, Ada Police Department, and Mayor of Ada have officially declared the City of Ada in a Snow Emergency.  What this means is that all vehicles must be off the street within 12 hours of declaration. Please remove your vehicle from the street and prepare for heavy snow fall. PLEASE BE ADVISED, VEHICLES WILL BE- TOWED.  City plows will be out over the next few days multiple times beginning early Wedensday morning.  Please call City Hall at 218-784-5520 or Ada Public Works at 218-784-5537 if you have any questions. Ordinance 276 Winter Parking-

Snow emergency shall mean the condition or conditions in existence as determined by the following criteria:

(1)Snow accumulation or anticipated accumulation of two inches or more.

(2)Drifting of snow that causes problems for travel.

(3)Icy conditions which adversely affect travel.

(4)Time of snow fall in relationship to heavy use of the streets.

(c)Authority to declare emergency. The public works director shall have the authority to declare a snow emergency when conditions in the City of Ada are such that any of the criteria referred to in subsection (b) under “snow emergency” have been met.

(d)Parking during snow emergency.

(1)No motor vehicle shall be parked on a public street in the City of Ada for a period of 24 hours after a snow emergency has been declared or until the street has been completely plowed.

(2)The business district as defined in subsection (b) shall be exempted from the provisions of the preceding paragraph. There shall be no parking on public streets in the business district during the hours of 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. on any day from November 1 to the following April 1, except for the parking restrictions for East Fourth Avenue from East Main Street to Second Street East which shall be from 1:00 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. from November 1 to the following April 1.

(3)No parking shall be allowed in areas in which parking is restricted as indicated by signage placed there by the public works department during snow removal activities.

(e)Towing. Any vehicle parked in violation of any provision of this ordinance, 12 hours after the declaration of a snow emergency may be towed away. The owner of the vehicle shall be responsible for all towing expenses. The vehicle shall not be released until payment of said expenses.

(f)Penalties. A violation of this ordinance shall constitute a petty misdemeanor which shall be punishable by a fine up to the maximum amount set by state law for a petty misdemeanor.
