Fosston vs. Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa
The Fosston Greyhounds advanced to their first ever State Baseball Tournament championship game with a 7-5 win over the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars Tuesday afternoon in St. Cloud. Despite being outhit 13-5, the Greyhounds were able to pull off the exciting win before an enthusiastic crowd at Joe Faber Field. The Greyhounds took an early 4-0 lead after the first half inning but the Jaguars answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first to make it 4-3. B-B-E tied the game at 5-5 in the fourth inning but never did take the lead. The Greyhounds scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings as they improved their overall record to 23-4. Carsen Boushee went 2 for 3 and scored two runs for Fosston. The Greyhounds will now face the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics in the State Championship game on Friday, June 16th at 10:00 am at CHS Field in St. Paul. (Pre-game show at 9:30 am on KKCQ 96.7 FM). Lyle/Pacelli advanced to the championship game with a 6-1 win over New Ulm Cathedral. Lyle/Pacelli takes a 24-1 record into the championship game on Friday.
