HAWLEY, MN—There was a standing room only crowd at Tuesday night’s Hawley City Council meeting.  The public wanted to get the truth about the future of the city’s baseball and softball fields near the rodeo grounds.  Hawley School Superintendent Phil Jensen had this to say:

Over a dozen people voiced their support for keeping the baseball and softball fields where they are.  Kevin Perry was one of them.

Once the public comments were over, Hawley Mayor Sean Mork read from a prepared statement.

That reaction was seconded by Hawley resident Brandi Alm.

Mork said there is no current plan for any building where the baseball and softball fields are.  He  also didn’t say what proceeds from a land sale would be used for….or where new baseball and softball fields could be built.   Some of those leaving the council meeting said the word “recall” toward the mayor and council as they departed.
