Hillsboro School Board Meeting 8-10-23
Hillsboro, ND – The Hillsboro Public School Board met in regular session Thursday morning. Before the regular meeting, Superintendent, Paula Suda, and Icon Architectural Group’s Director of Project Development and Community Engagement, Kyle Kvamme facilitated a school and community meeting on the ongoing referendum process. Topics of discussion included the layout and design elements of the proposed new construction, bussing logistics, and other general concerns.

Hillsboro Public Schools will host the first of two public meetings on Wednesday, August 16th at 7pm in the high school gym. You can also view the meetings on Your Live Event.
Highlights of the regular board meeting included: the first readings of updates to school meal charge, open enrollment, and suspension and expulsion policies; implementing substitute teacher pay increases; and approving the 2023-2024 preliminary budget. Suda informed the board that enrollment is down this year with a current total of 475 students. High School Principal, Terry Baesler, also informed the board that there is still an unfilled full-time science teacher position, resulting in four classes being cut. Suda responds to the teacher shortage.
