Mahnomen City Council Meets
MAHNOMEN, MN—At Monday’s Mahnomen City Council meeting, the City’s audit was reviewed. City Administrator Taylor Guenther says the audit went well.
Olivia Morton, who performed the audit, says the City of Mahnomen will have to hold a public hearing because the City’s municipal liquor store had one year of financial losses in the last three years. 2020 had a loss, but the liquor store showed profits in 2021 & 2022.
In other business, the City Council tabled a second reading of a new 48 hour parking ordinance that would put a 48 hour limit on how long a vehicle could be parked on a city street.
The Mahnomen City Council also passed an ordinance on second reading that prohibits use of cannabis in public places in the city. But an amendment was added to the ordinance that allows cannabis to be used in the smoking area of the City’s municipal liquor store.
