Fertile Special Council Meeting Recap
Tensions were high as over three dozen people gathered in the Fertile Council Chamber on Tuesday night to get answers on how the city-run Fair Meadow Nursing Home will operate moving forward after the ongoing conflict between the City of Fertile and former Fair Meadow Administrator Angie Leiting. On the agenda for the night was the discussion and the appointment of Board members to the nursing home advisory board. While there are still some seats to fill on the board the Fertile City Council did appoint Dr. Dennis Hanson and Carol Swenby. But many had questions about the role and power that this advisory board has according to city bylaws. Fertile Mayor Dan Wilkins said the following when asked what the role of the advisory board will be when it’s finished.
There were also questions raised on whether the city will continue to operate the Fair Meadow Nursing Home and when the question was asked the council said the following.
After it was decided that the city council would fill the rest of the Nursing Home Advisory Board and redo the bylaws at a later date many still had questions, but they went unanswered after the meeting was abruptly ended.
The next Fertile City Council meeting that will discuss board appointments and other topics regarding the Fair Meadow Nursing Home Advisory Board will be held on Monday, November 13.
