Mild winter weather likely to impact Minnesota deer population
Minnesota weather has been uncharacteristically warm so far this winter season and the lack of snow and cold weather will likely affect Minnesota’s deer population. MN DNR Northwest Area Wildlife Supervisor Rob Baden says that this is the winter Minnesota deer hunters have been asking for.
Baden says that the warm weather could also have an impact on the predatory wildlife population.
In 2023 the Northwest region of Minnesot saw a 16% decrease in deer harvest during the rifle season harvest. The Minnesota DNR says that back to back tough winters played a big role in this decrease.
