Ada City Council meets
The City of Ada met in regular session Wednesday night. ( rescheduled from Tuesday with National Night Out)The city council took action to approve an emergency abatement to the property at 508 2nd Avenue East. Ada Mayor John Hintz explains:
Hintz says the city council also received an update on the Ada Event Center building ahead of another meeting next week with the insurance company.

The council approved the Bond Sale of $935,000 for the 15 year bond.
Current council seats with Council members Scott Erickson, Shawn Roux, Mike Nelson with 4 year terms and Eric Ness with two year term are up for election. The Filing deadline for anyone interested in filing to be on the election ballot is Tuesday August 13th. Administrator Ashley Larson says currently five individuals have already filed to be on the ballot.
The City Council approved the hiring of a new law firm. From the list of four law firms, they chose Eckberg Lammers Attorney at Law for a three year contract.
There will be a special session August 28th for a budget planning meeting. Administrator Larson will prepare levy recommendations of 6, 8 and 10 percent.
The council approved the purchase of a new mosquito sprayer for the price of $15,900. The previous sprayer was 20 years old before recent breakdowns which would have been over $11,000 to repair.
Fundraising has now raised over $40,000 for the Dekko Community Center. There are additional concerns/costs of $35,000 to possibly $72,000 for the west wall. We will have more with Mayor John Hintz and council members through the day today with R & J news reports.
