29 Year Old Paul Willis Knoell of Ada is facing multiple charges, after police allege that he was in possession of numerous files of child pornography.

Court documents say on March 12, 2024, the Norman County Sheriff Department received a  Cybertip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Data System for child exploitation material on the dates of December 15 and 16, 2023.

After an investigation into the cybertip, law enforcement was able to trace an IP Address back to a device owned by Knoell.

On March 4, 2024, during a search of his home, police say that Knoell surrendered his phone and provided his social media accounts. Police say he also admitted to sharing images with a random person on the internet using a VPN, and saving those images to a computer in his home.

On November 19, 2025, a report was generated by the Minnesota BCA lab, which authorities later used to uncover at least 10 separate files of child pornography possessed by Knoell. Many of which featured children under the age of eight.

Knoell is charged with ten separate counts of Possession of Pornographic Work Involving Minor under the Age of 14 years. His last appearance in court was on May 20, and his next appearance is scheduled for July 1, 2026 in front of the Honorable Annie P. Claesson-Huseby.
