Aitkin City Council meeting from March 21st

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council held their second meeting of March this past Monday to review topics of the Tour of Opportunities and lighting at the Aitkin Public Library.
City Administrator Mike Skribch notified the Council that Garrison Disposal will be continuing with the City on the placement of decorative bins downtown and at the City’s little league baseball lot.
Longtime City employee Greg Handt with the Street Department is also set to retire in a couple of weeks.
The City of Aitkin will also be participating in the Aitkin Area Chamber of Commerce’s Tour of Opportunities.
Council member Jason Henke touched on the Aitkin Public Library’s upgrading of LED lighting and the lowered costs.
Interim Street Commissioner Lon Nicko presented to the Council on needed repair costs for a City dump truck after breaking down during snow removal.
Administrator Skrbich also opened talks about the Aitkin Police Department’s roof leaking and the costs for its upkeep.
Other notes from the meeting included Aitkin Police Chief Paul Ryan presenting applications for advanced training courses, Tom Mayfield from National Healthcare Academy and Riverwood CFO Casey Johnson presenting upcoming projects at Riverwood Healthcare.
The Aitkin City Council will next meet on Monday, April 4th at 6pm from the Aitkin Public Library Community Room.
