(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners rescheduled meeting took place Tuesday, March 1st with a 2021 Year End Budget Review and discussion on potential policy initiatives from the Government Center Board Room in Aitkin.

Human Resources Director Bobbie Danielson presented an update to the Early Retirement Health Insurance Incentive Policy.

The Board approved the resolution unanimously and approved to apply for the General Community Project funding for Fiscal Year 2023 after hearing from Economic Development Coordinator Mark Jeffers.  

Environmental Services Director Andrew Carlstrom spoek before the Board on moving forward with the Big Sandy Plat.

Approval and signature of the plat was given by Commissioners and the Board also denied the request for an Environmental Assessment Worksheet with the new proposal of 22 sites for the Gun Lake Family Campground. The Board also approved the purchase of Darktrace Security Appliance using fiscal recovery funds.

County Administrator Jessica Seibert highlighted the  201 Year End Budget Review and how looking at the overall General Fund Balance is a difficult task with money coming in and out.

After the Budget Review, Administrator Seibert spoke of the financial results of the Opioid Settlement that Aitkin County will receive.

Commissioners did also approve the Consent Agenda items including a donation from Logan Township for the STS Program, resolutions to Support for Full Funding SCORE Grant to MN Counties and the 2021 Annual Apportionment of Forfeited Tax Sales, and a donation to Veterans Services. 

The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, March 8th at 9am from the Government Center Board Room.
