Aitkin County SWCD takes creative approach to AIS with “Photo Finish” contest

The Aitkin County Soil and Water Conservation District is getting creative this open water season to help further combat Aquatic Invasive Species with a new photo contest for people to win cash or a brand new kayak.

Aitkin County SWCD Manager Steve Hughes, in our monthly update, spoke about how the “AIS Photo Finish” contest came to be in keeping up the fight against AIS.

The contest will serve as a reminder to do the little things to prevent AIS from spreading while snapping a quick photo.

Once you send in the photo to aitkinais@gmail.com or in-person to the SWCD office in the Aitkin County Government Center, a monthly winner will be selected for a prize.

One grand prize winner will also be selected in September.

All pictures will be deleted at the end of the contest.
