American Sugarbeet Growers Association on Capitol Hill for Farm Bill
The American Sugar Beet Growers association will be in Washington DC for the next few weeks to meet with lawmakers about a new farm bill that has not been passed by congress yet. ASGA President and Ada Farmer Neil Rockstad explains what they are looking for in a new farm bill.
Rockstad says insurance is also a big talking point for the Sugar Beet Growers and area producers.
One thing Rockstad is weary about is potential anti sugar amendments being brought up and discussed by some lawmakers.
The Federal Government was able to pass a short term spending bill extension late last week extending the deadline from March 2 to March 8 with some areas getting extensions to March 22. If no new deal or extension is reached by the March 8 deadline the Federal Government will most likely shutdown.
