Area Fire Departments test out new soybean based product to fight fires

Earlier this week R&J News told you about a recent house fire training exercise that area fire departments participated in, outside of Ada last weekend. One thing you might not have known however, is that during the training the firefighters were testing out a new soybean based product that makes firefighting more safe for our first responders. Marketing Specialist with the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council Mark Askelson tells us more about this new product called soyfoam.
For most firefighters, this was their first time using the soyfoam product, and Askelson tells us how it performed, and what our area departments thought of it.
Askelson says another benefit of this product is that it will further increase the demand for Minnesota soybeans, and it also gives another use for excess soybean meal.
Lastly, Askelson told us what the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council is doing to get this soyfoam into the hands of more local fire departments.
You can learn more about soyfoam online at the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council website at mnsoybean.org/msrpc/soyfoam.
