Area MSHSL AAA & ExCEL Award Winners

Fertile-Beltrami swept the Region 8A Minnesota State High School League Triple-A awards.  Drew Gullickson and Katrina Hitchen were named Monday as the boys and girls winner, respectively, of the Region 8A Triple-A awards.  Triple-A stands for Academics, Arts and Athletics…and is awarded to high school seniors who have a 3.0 or higher grade point average and take part in athletics and fine arts activities.  Gullickson and Hitchen will now be in the running for statewide Class A honors, which will include a one thousand dollar a year scholarship for four years.

And speaking of awards, Hayden Shulstad of Red Lake Falls has received an ExCel Award from the Minnesota State High School League.  The ExCel Award goes to high school juniors who are active in school activities, leaders in their schools and who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.
