Area Students Place High at the Minnesota State Speech Meet
The Minnesota State High School Speech Meet was held this past weekend at Eastview High School in Apple Valley and several area students placed among the top eight at state. Ian Kronbeck from Hawley High School finished first in the category of Great Speeches with Amelie McCloud of Thief River Falls finishing in 7th place. Alexus Perreault from Fosston/Bagley placed 2nd in Poetry Reading with Emma Ravnass of Park Rapids finishing 6th and Bralynne Drevlow of Thief River Falls 8th. Zara Baig of Crookston High School finished in 4th place in Humorous Interpretation while Jack Worner of Park Rapids finished in 7th place in Extemporaneous Reading. Samantha Rezac of Crookston placed 2nd in Storytelling with Steven Sellin of Hawley placing 3rd in Original Oratory. Mounds Park Academy finished in first place in the Class “A” team competition with Melrose finishing second and Chatfield third. Moorhead High School finished first in the “AA” team competition with Apple Valley second and Eastview third.
