Authorities release name of man killed in law enforcement shooting in Polk County

The man who died after being shot by authorities at a rural East Grand Forks residence has been identified as 42 year old Lucas Gilbertson. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office, East Grand Forks Police and the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force went to the Reinhart Township home Tuesday with a warrant to arrest Gilbertson. He exited the house and was then followed back inside by officers and was then shot. Gilbertson was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks where he died. Further details have not been released on how many officers were involved and what led up to the shooting. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is handling the investigation.
