Barbershop Back in Hillsboro

The closing of Custom Cuts Barbershop in 2014 began an 11 year absence of having a barbershop in Hillsboro. This March, Jason Nelson brought an official location of In the Cutz to Downtown Hillsboro, filling the location previously occupied by Sweet Sips.

Nelson, a California native, moved to North Dakota during COVID to continue his academic and college football career at Mayville State University. The former Comets RB got licensed in 2023 after graduating from Dakota Barber Academy and found downtown Hillsboro to be the perfect place to start serving his community.

Despite not having a downtown location right away, Nelson went around Hillsboro and surrounding communities giving house call cuts starting in winter 2023. Jason has now been serving haircuts for a week at In the Cutz’ downtown Hillsboro location at 16 W. Caledonia Ave. Nelson speaks about the opportunity to provide a service that hasn’t been widely available in the Hillsboro community.
