BARNESVILLE, MN—If you like potatoes, you’ll want to be in Barnesville Friday and Saturday for the annual Potato Days celebration. The festivities start Friday night with the Miss Tator Tot Pageant at 5 at the Clay County Fairgrounds.  The WOJO Rodeo returns with shows Friday and Saturday nights at 7 at the Fairgrounds.  Saturday will be a busy day with a pancake feed and french toast feed, a food court and street fair in downtown Barnesville, a car show at McGrath Park, as well as historic wagon rides, and a martial arts demonstration.

Saturday afternoon at 1:00 is the strong man competition–with women and kids 14 to 18 also taking part–to see how high you can throw a 100 pound sack of potatoes.  At 3:00, there will be a mashed potato eating contest, as well as fire hose water fights.  Mashed potato wrestling returns to Potato Days at 4pm in the downtown green space.  There will also be a potato peeling contest at 4 on the main stage.  Saturday wraps up with a street dance from 10pm to 1am.  ID
