Beating BBQ Bloat

May is National BBQ Month and with the warm weather now among us people everywhere are breaking out their aprons and grills to host cookouts. Nutritional educator Dr. Julie Gatza says that many people this time of year will often make unhealthy mistakes that lead to things like constipation, gas, stomach aches and bloating. Gatza says that one thing people can do to avoid this is to pace yourself and eat the different food groups in a certain order.

Dr Gatza says that another thing that will help is mixing in foods that will help you digest food, and she gives some common examples of food often found at cookouts that would help.

However this does not mean that you should be trying a bunch of unfamiliar foods and strange combinations, because Dr Gatza says that could also lead to issues.

The final piece of advice Dr Gatza recommends is to avoid eating when you’re not feeling the greatest or stressed from the heat.
