Blue Team Reverse Sweeps Optimist Volleyball Day 2

After the Red Team took all four sets at Fargo South on day one, they picked up where they left off, winning the first two sets each by the score of 25-21. Fargo Shanley’s Katelyn Ommen tallied 13 kills through the first two sets after leading all players with 14 kills in four sets yesterday. Addison Klemin from Bismarck Century continued to back Ommen as her supporting cast at the net and also served up five aces.

The Blue Team would rally however in the 3rd set behind South Prairie Max’s Azjiah Trader. The 5-foot 8 middle hitter rose to the occasion and dropped in 15 kills to pace the Blue Team’s comeback. Williston’s Madison Collings had an impressive second night as she eclipsed double digit kills. The Blue Team would win sets 3&4 by scores of 25-22 and 25-23 to force a fifth set.

Jamestown setter Edie Hegerle called her own number and surprised the Red Team, dropping in all three of her kills in the final set. The Blue Team controlled the 5th set and would win 15-11, giving them the reverse sweep and a 3-2 victory in night two.

The Red Team won the first six sets of the series and the Blue Team countered for the last three. Katelyn Ommen led the series with 34 kills.
