Building process begins on new fire station in Hillsboro
After breaking ground last fall on a $4 million fire station project, the building process in Hillsboro is beginning in February at the new Highway 81 location next to Sanford. Hillsboro Fire and Rescue Chief, Jake Rust, says everything came together at the right time to begin the project last fall.
Rust says the project is on pace and will have visible signs of progress this week.
A portion of the new building will be leased to Sanford to store the ambulance bay. Rust says the new location will help both Fire and Rescue and the ambulances in responding to calls.
The building project is on pace for the projected finishing date of late August, early September. Hillsboro Fire and Rescue plans to hold an open house for the public once construction is complete this summer.
