City of Hillsboro Continues Talks on Staffing
The Hillsboro City Commission met in regular session Monday evening.
The commission continued discussion on various staffing concerns, particularly in the public works department. There have been no formal applications for either the Public Works Director or the lineman. Outgoing Director, Jim Anderson, also informed the commission that the department would likely need at least one more new employee.
The commission also discussed the likelihood of a management opening for the city’s pool. Following discussion, the commission approved advertising a pool manager opening starting at $20 per hour.
In individual comments, Commissioner Nicole Evans gave an update on a revised EPA lead and copper rule affecting certain homes in city limits. Homes constructed prior to 1980 will likely receive a letter from Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services with instructions on how to check for compliance. Commissioner Paul Geray also gave an update on continued improvements to the city’s load controls and exploring new ideas for building incentives.
In formal action, the commission approved printing and copying rates at City Hall, vacation payout requests for three employees, and two gaming authorizations for the Hillsboro Economic Development Corporation at A & R Bar and Goose River Brewing.
