Clearwater County announces elimination of Home Care Nursing and Hospice Program
During the most recent Clearwater County Board of Commissioners meeting, the commissioners stated they they had come to a very difficult, but necessary decision regarding its Home Care Nursing and Hospice Program. The decision was made to terminate its Home Care Nursing and Hospice Program, which has been operated through its Public Health Department for many years. The decision was a financial one as the program has operated with a significant deficit for many years, including deficits exceeding $160,000 per year in each of the last two years. The County will work with its current clients to assist in transitioning services to new providers in the coming weeks. The decision means that 57 clients will need to find other providers before April 28, 2023. These types of services are being offered in Clearwater County by Sanford Health, Essentia Health and White Earth Nation Tribal Health. Some staff will remain in the Public Health Department including the Public Health Administrator Lisa Syverson.
