Clearwater County Chief Deputy Vern Wittenberg running for Sheriff 

Earlier this year Clearwater County Sheriff Darrin Halverson announced that he would be retiring at the end of the year, and people have already come forward as potential candidates to become the next sheriff. One person who has stepped forward is Clearwater County Chief Deputy Vern Wittenberg. R&J News had the opportunity to catch up with Wittenberg, who tells us more about himself, and his law enforcement background. 

When he’s not wearing the badge, Wittenberg says he can be found spending time with family, or in the outdoors hunting and fishing. 

Wittenberg also explains why he’s running for Sheriff, and what he would bring to the position if elected. 

As for what he’d like to accomplish if elected Sheriff, Wittenberg says continuing to build a relationship with the community would be one of his main priorities.
