Crookston Man Arrested For Domestic Assault
CROOKSTON, MN—Crookston police have arrested a man on multiple counts of domestic assault. Police received the report from a friend of the victim. The friend claimed Ethan Yarbro assaulted the victim, who is Yarbro’s girlfriend.
On August 22, Crookston Police Officers arrived at a residence to speak to the victim who appeared emotional and ran her fingers through her hair as clumps of hair came out. According to court documents, she was hesitant to give information to police, but mentioned there was an argument that happened between her and Yarbro because Yarbro cheated on her. The victim claimed that Yarbro is an amazing dad to their children and her children’s happiness is more important than hers, which is why she didn’t want to tell authorities what happened.
After Police left the residence, 15 minutes later, the victim called to say Yarbro had returned to the residence and the victim locked herself in the bathroom.
Officers returned to the residence to talk to Yarbro, who was sitting on the couch. During the conversation, authorities observed Yarbro was slurring his speech and confirmed Yarbro is on probation from another county on the condition to not use alcohol. Yarbro was then detained in a squad car. After detaining Yarbro, police spoke with the victim once again. She reported being scared of Yarbro, and he had hit her in the face and had broken almost every door by kicking them in, and he is mentally ill.
Officers followed up with the victim the next day on August 23 to gather additional information. The victim stated Yarbro had thrown her to the ground, held a knife up to her neck, but said she was fine with it. She added all three kids were home during these events.
Yarbro is being charged with one count of 2nd degree assault with a weapon and felony domestic assault. Law enforcement also found a criminal history that Yarbro had been convicted of domestic assault on or before January 25, 2023, and on or around March 14, 2023.
