(Minnesota) — The Crow Wing County Highway Department is starting the 2nd year of hte “Pick A Mile” program for residents to assist in roadside cleanup along a one-mile stretch of county roads.

First introduced in June 2021, the “Pick A Mile” program allows Crow Wing County residents to reserve an available stretch of road to cleanup as a family, business, or organization using an easy-to-use app. The app also allows users to choose a specific section of county roads, see what roads are already taken, and what county roads are still available.

Residents are encouraged to pick up litter on both sides of the road at least 2 times a year for at least two years. Volunteers will be provided garbage bags, reflective vests, and safety training material. Many roadside cleanup weekends are coordinated in April and October for the more than 600 miles of Crow Wing County roads.

More information about the “Pick A Mile” county road program and the app is available on the Crow Wing County website. Those interested can also contact the Highway Department by calling 218-824-1110 or email.
