On the heels of Subway’s closure in Hillsboro last Friday, the community’s restaurant scene continues to evolve rapidly. Mike Deck of the Cruizin Cafe and Terry Sando of Goose River Brewing announced Monday night at the Hillsboro Economic Development Corporation meeting that they will be joining forces before the end of the year.

Deck will take over the pub portion of the business, managing the food and day-to-day operations. Deck informed HEDC that he would like to upgrade the existing space. Some of his ideas include soundproofing and a Sunday buffet. Deck will also enhance the menu to include Cruizin Cafe’s classic dishes. Sando says he will stay on, especially on the brewery side, during the transition. The name will remain Goose River Brewing, with an estimated re-grand opening set for sometime in December.

In other business from last night’s meeting, HEDC approved a Flex PACE loan request from Tytom Properties to aid their office building project in the Riverwalk Addition. The loan request was just under $72,500, over a five-year period. HEDC also approved their portion of the “More at 104” billboard near Grand Forks for three years at $3600.
